Be Prepared for Ken Lee

Published by ZAM under , Music, entertainment, youtube

I really would have forgotten all about this if not for my son who, for unknown reason, constantly reminds me of this by singing Ken Lee everytime the Pinoy Idol ads is flashed on TV. Okay, I am partly to be blamed because Matt was sitting beside me when I viewed it weeks ago. But how was I to know that he'd remember it and associate it with Pinoy Idol?

Sorry my boy for underestimating you.

So Ken Lee be it... And with 5M viewers? Woot! Heheh.

But speaking of viewers, I'm going to leave you the video of the JailDancers dancing to Michael Jackson's hit, Thriller. I am so entertained with this vid. And it does look like they had fun doing it, too -maybe momentarily forgetting their conditions. But don't you agree that everyone - even prisoners- is entitled to have some fun, clean fun, too?

Yes We Can by Obama

It was a creed written into the founding documents that declared the destiny of a nation.

Yes we can.

It was whispered by slaves and abolitionists as they blazed a trail toward freedom.

Yes we can.

It was sung by immigrants as they struck out from distant shores and pioneers who pushed westward against an unforgiving wilderness.

Yes we can.

It was the call of workers who organized; women who reached for the ballots; a President who chose the moon as our new frontier; and a King who took us to the mountaintop and pointed the way to the Promised Land.

Yes we can to justice and equality.

Yes we can to opportunity and prosperity.

Yes we can heal this nation.

Yes we can repair this world.

Yes we can.

We know the battle ahead will be long, but always remember that no matter what obstacles stand in our way, nothing can stand in the way of the power of millions of voices calling for change.

We have been told we cannot do this by a chorus of cynics…they will only grow louder and more dissonant ……….. We’ve been asked to pause for a reality check. We’ve been warned against offering the people of this nation false hope.

But in the unlikely story that is America, there has never been anything false about hope.

Now the hopes of the little girl who goes to a crumbling school in Dillon are the same as the dreams of the boy who learns on the streets of LA; we will remember that there is something happening in America; that we are not as divided as our politics suggests; that we are one people; we are one nation; and together, we will begin the next great chapter in the American story with three words that will ring from coast to coast; from sea to shining sea –

Yes. We. Can.

Rihanna Performs at the Grammys

Rihanna is one of the most gorgeous women I’ve ever seen in Hollywood. She’s not actually very beautiful, but she’s extremely appealing. The way she carries herself makes her really sensual and truly sexy.

Here’s Rihanna performing in the 50th Grammy Awards. She sang Umbrella and Don’t Stop the Music.  She was nominated for Album of the Year, but eventually lost to Amy Winehouse.

Paris Hilton’s Saddest Day on TV

Paris Hilton just got grilled by David Letterman, and it was her saddest day.

Okay, here’s my two cents’ worth: if it’s really over, then it could have never affected her one bit, right? And I’d say given the reputation of David Letterman, she could have at least expected it. Moreover, it would certainly be more self-redeeming if she just matched Letterman’s candidness with her “wit.”

In this world where even your littlest mistake is rubbed into your face, it pays to be real tough and gracious.

No One Like Alicia Keys

Indeed, there’s no one like Alicia Keys, especially in her powerful and soulful rendition of No One.

Lyrics:

I just want you close
Where you can stay forever
You can be sure
That it will only get better
You and me together
Through the days and nights
I don’t worry ‘coz
Everythings gonna be alright
People keep talking
They can say what they like
But all I know is everything’s gonna be alright

No one no one no one
Can get in the way of what I’m feeling
No one no one no one
Can get in the way of what I feel for you
You you
Can get in the way of what I feel for you

When the rain is pouring down
And my heart is hurting
You will always be around
This I know for certain

You and me together
Through the days and nights
I don’t worry cause
Everythings gonna be alright
People keep talking
They can say what they like
But all I know is everything’s gonna be alright

No one no one no one
Can get in the way of what I’m feeling
No one no one no one
Can get in the way of what I feel for you
You you
Can get in the way of what I feel for you

I know some people search the world
To find something like what we have
I know people will try
Try to divide
Something so real
So till the end of time
I’m telling you that

No one no one no one
Can get in the way of what I’m feeling
No one no one no one
Can get in the way of what I feel for you
oh oh oh …

Eva Nazemson Throws Up–Literally

This is totally weird! Just a warning, though. This can be extremely gross–literally. And I mean no kidding. This is Eva Nazemson, a Swedish game show host who suddenly threw up in a middle of a phone call and then back on camera as if nothing happened. Reason? She just had her period. She still looks fantastic, though, don’t you think?

Abu Sayyaf Loses Foreign Funding

BASILAN ISLAND, Philippines (Mindanao Examiner / 18 Sept) – The Abu Sayyaf group has stopped receiving funding from abroad and its members are on the run as security forces continue hunting down militants in the troubled southern Philippine region.

Abu Kahlid, an Abu Sayyaf militant, in a clandestine interview with Al-Jazeera television in Basilan island, said his group has lost capability in launching large scale attacks similar to the firebombing of a ferry off Manila Bay in February 2004 that killed over 100 people.

Khalid is a cousin of a senior Abu Sayyaf leader Isnilon Hapilon, who is wanted both by the Philippines and the United States for the killings of two American citizens kidnapped in 2001.

Al-Jazeera reported Monday that Khalid admitted the Abu Sayyaf now has no more capabilities to launch large scale attacks.

He also said the Abu Sayyaf stopped receiving funding from abroad and that training its fighters have move to other region.

It was unclear who was funding the Abu Sayyaf, but Filipino and U.S. authorities have linked the group to Osama Bin Laden’s al-Qaeda and Indonesian Jemaah Islamiya terror network.

The Abu Sayyaf last month published excerpts of a recruitment film on YouTube where the video is spoken in Arabic and was appealing for funding to Middle Eastern donors so it can carry out jihad in the Philippines.
It was taken out by YouTube after Philippine military officials said the video was promoting terrorism.

During the interview, Khalid, his face covered to hide his identity, warned that: “We will spare no one, whether they are Christians or Muslims.”

However, he said his conscience has bothered him and asked for forgives to those victimized by the Abu Sayyaf atrocities. “My conscience did bother me that why I laid low for a while. I feel bad for those who were victimized so I ask forgiveness for what I have done.”

“I have a family now and swear to God if I die and go to hell; there is nothing more I can do. I am so tired and I don’t want to go hiding anymore, I don’t want to be tired anymore,” he said.

Khalid was with another Abu Sayyaf militant, Abu Karim, said to be involved in attack on government soldiers in Basilan’s Al-Barka town in July 10. Ten Marines were beheaded in that fighting.

“It’s not always an order from Hapilon,” Khalid said, adding, younger men are coming in and acting on their own, like Abu Karim, 25, who rebelled against his parents to prove that he is a man.

Like Khalid, the young militant’s face was also covered.

Al-Jazeera reported that Karim joined the Abu Sayyaf along with young recruits in Basilan island, but wanted to leave the group because of the intense government operation.

“Abu Karim, who also joined the Abu Sayyaf and is said to be among those who decapitated ten Marines in Basilan island’s Al-Barka town, now wanted out of the group,” Al-Jazeera said in its English report now also in the popular video website YouTube.

The Al-Jazeera report ended with this: “For many of the island’s younger generation, it is the Abu Sayyaf not the military that remains the symbol of bravery regardless of leadership in a culture where guns equal power and Abu Sayyaf young recruits are waiting for their next mission to prove themselves, for them that is their only cause it could just be a matter of time before these recruits return.”

The Philippine military on Tuesday said the hunt for the Abu Sayyaf continues in Basilan island. “The operation is going on. Security forces are hunting down the Abu Sayyaf and their supporters,” Army Maj. Eugene Batara, a spokesman for the Western Mindanao Command, told the Mindanao Examiner.

“We are also tracking down Abu Khalid and Abu Karim and we will arrest those who are coddling the two terrorists,” he said.

The Abu Sayyaf is in the U.S. list of international terrorist organizations and Washington offered as much as five million dollars bounties for the capture of Isnilon and other known terror leaders.

Many of the Abu Sayyaf senior leaders, including its chieftain Khadaffy Janjalani have been killed the past years and the group is now in disarray. But despite the government offensive the Abu Sayyaf group remains a top security concern for Manila and Washington.

Just last month, a suspected Abu Sayyaf bombing in Zamboanga City injured at least 16 people.

The Abu Sayyaf is believed to be coddling two of Indonesia’s most wanted terrorists, Jemaah Islamiya militants Dulmatin and Umar Patek in southern Philippines. Jakarta tagged both men as behind the 2002 Bali resort bombings which killed 202 people, including 88 Australians. (Mindanao Examiner)

From YouTube to your phone, MP3 player

It was love at first note when I heard Amy Winehouse sing. Her voice exudes raw emotion unmatched in decades.

I first played my copy of her Back to Black album in Rhythmbox in my Linux laptop, while I was struggling with getting a graphical interface to Subversion working. When I heard her sing, it was as if I mangled my system and did an svn merge that automagically produced a track from my collection of songs of Dinah Washington, Billy Holiday, Sarah Vaughan, Eartha Kitt, and Dodo Greene.

I finally settled with using RapidSVN but I wouldn’t settle with the few Amy Winehouse songs I had. I browsed YouTube to view videos of her performances (especially her AOL sessions) and played them over and over again. Over and over and over again.

I wanted to sleep to her songs. I didn’t want, however, to leave the laptop and the modem router on. The siren’s calls were too strong, I knew I had to have her songs in my MP3 player.

Luckily, I had bookmarked VConvert.net weeks earlier, when I spotted a link to it in the popular bookmarks page of del.icio.us.

Alegasyon Ng Dayaan Sa Basilan, Lumutang Sa You Tube!

Abdulgani “Gerry” Salapudin at Gov. Wahab Akbar.

Ito ang nakasaad sa video clip: “A resident of Barangay Diki, Malamawi Island, Isabela City, Basilan recounts her harrowing experience where an active Abu Sayyaf member…terrorized voters of her barangay…in the recently concluded May 14 Elections.”

Mapapanood ang clip sa "http://youtube.com/watch?v=tEKg4PtEwI8." Hindi naman agad makupirma kung may katotohanan ang alegassyon at kung sino ang nasa likod ng paglalagay nito sa Internet. (Mindanao Examiner)

Non-Traditional News Websites, Blogs And Videos Getting Popular

U.S. news-seekers are increasingly turning to Internet search engines, video clips and gossip-slingers to sate curiosity about current events, according to Agence France Presse, which cited a study released Tuesday.

Visits to the top 10 news and media websites in the United States dropped by nearly four percent in the past year as people turned increasingly to "non-traditional news websites," Hitwise online intelligence service reported.

Meanwhile, websites that "aggregate" news stories by harvesting them online registered increases in visits during the year ending March of 2007, according to Hitwise.

Yahoo! News ranks as the top news website with slightly more than 6.5 percent of the market.

A Weather Channel website is second with 4.75 percent of US online news hunting traffic, while CNN barely edged out MSNBC for third place with 3.95 percent.

Google News ranks fourth in popularity with 1.83 percent of the visits.

Search engines, online news aggregators and Internet portal front pages are main sources of traffic for traditional news websites, according to Hitwise.

The number of Internet users referred to traditional newspaper websites by the world's most popular online search engine, Google, increased by nearly 30 percent in the past year, Hitwise reported.

Internet traffic routed by Google to television or radio station websites rose 35.9 percent during that same period, according to Hitwise.

The rate at which people left news websites to directly view related video clips at online venues such as video-sharing website YouTube has leapt 196 percent in the past year, Hitwise reported.
