I just did the major blog revamp for this site and so glad that everything went smoothly.
WordPress Database Upgrade:
I upgraded to WordPress 2.3.3. My previous WordPress install version was 2.2.1 installed last July 2007. Ever since I experienced WordPress database error due to auto-upgrading through Fantastico, I’ve been careful in upgrading my database. So this time, I’ve taken several measures to avoid those upgrade errors.
- Backed up my database. Sadly, I was one of those WordPress users who always forget to back up during upgrade.
- Uninstalled the plugins and checked plugin incompatibilities before upgrade. The errors I’ve experienced during the previous upgrade were due to plugin incompatibilities. It is, thus, highly recommended to check for the plugin compatibility, do upgrades, or look for alternative plugins if there are compatibility issues.

Using magazine-style WordPress themes is the new trend in the blogging community. These themes enhances the CMS capability of WordPress.
Why is it better to choose a magazine- or newspaper-style theme?
1. It’s “pro-looking”. One of the ways to drive traffic and persuade readers is making your layout professional. Because these themes can be taking a lot of knowledge about coding, most of them are designed by professional designers.
2. You can maximize the space on your blog. You have a lot of space for advertising and other widgets.
3. It is best for multimedia. Magazine-style themes are best for video blogging and podcasting.
4. You can have featured posts highlighting a certain notable post.

Mozilla has released the new and improved Firefox 3 on its beta version. How will Firefox 3 improve on things?
- Performance improvements, including over 300 memory leak fixes, perennial problems with Firefox since the beginning and an issue that plagues it badly today
- Firefox 3 does seem quite a bit speedier than version 2.
- With its intuitive search, users can auto-scour their surfing and browsing history and bookmarks for visited URLs and even page titles, making it easier to find “lost” pages as you type.
- Bookmarking is easier to do (just one click) and organization of bookmarks is also improved.
- Security improvements

My domain and other sites, has been hosted since its birth in the blogosphere by Ejam Hosting through its post-to-host program for FREE.
I have been satisfied with their hosting because I am getting the features of a paid host for FREE and so far, Ejam has satisfied my qualifications for a free host. Unfortunately (or fortunately), since this blog has been widely visited these past days, I have to upgrade my bandwidth limit and storage capacity.
Although I was satisfied with the hosting, my fear of losing my website was still there. Because it’s a free hosting, I was afraid of instability in the future. I’ve experienced this dilemma with my previous free hosts. AhPlace, my first host, for example, has been one of the most-trusted free hosts but due to hacker attacks, click frauds, spammers, and several other instabilities, it has to close down losing all the data of its hosted members. I still highly recommend Ejam, though.

Upon request of several people who emailed me, I am now releasing five new Wordpress Themes. I thought of doing this before I get busy with my new client’s project. The company owner asked me to devote my time and attention just for them for a certain period of time since the said project is quite huge. So as promised here are the latest and not so latest themes for you to grab.
Two of the themes I am releasing were part of my school projects which I have already forgotten and one was ordered by a client who backed out. To some who’s been visiting my Test Blog may have seen them already. Now dear ones, I am so very sorry but I don’t have the ample time to write a detailed representation for each theme. For more details please visit my playground Test Blog and serve yourself
and or you may go directly to my Wordpress Themes download page.

Ever wanted a WordPress theme but you have only Blogger as your platform? JackBook.com has a solution for you.
When you are using WordPress as your blogging platform, you will not worry about the availability of the themes you could use because there are a lot of designs available, you’ll have to search for it. A dilemma you have when you are using Blogger, not for those who knows how to design their website, though. If you try to search for Blogger templates, you will be given the same template collection, these are usually from Blogcrowds, Finalsense, etc. You can only wish that those beautiful WordPress theme be converted to Blogger template. But that was before.
I was searching for Blogger Beta (XML) templates that will fit my blogs in Blogger, when I stumbled upon the site of Jack Book. The tagline caught my attention, which says:

Now that sponsored themes are officially out from the WordPress Theme Viewer which is considered as the largest WP themes repository, advertisers (sponsoring links) and WP theme designers are finding alternative ways to promote their links and themes, respectively.
1. Blogging Themes. They describe their site as “a distributor of blog theme-templates. All of our themes are provided free of charge for your enjoyment.” This site allows uploading your own theme just like the WordPress Theme Viewer. Currently, themes available are only for WordPress.
2. Themes Base is a large repository for themes and templates for several CMS including WordPress, Mambo, Joomla and others. Some of the themes which were uploaded at the WordPress Theme Viewer can also be found at Themes Base.

For several days, this blog was off line; all because of my carelessness. I tried to upgrade my WordPress installation to 2.2.1 through Fantastico, without trying it first with my test blog. The upgrade ruined everything. The pages suddenly were not accessible. I was desperately looking for ways to make this blog work again but I always failed. Fortunately, through exploring my cPanel and using several articles and help topics available on the web, I was able to find the solution to my problem. But of course, I had some lessons learned, I want to share so you can also avoid careless mistakes:
1. Never use Fantastico in upgrading your WordPress installation. Chances are, there might be bugs or changes in the server you might be unaware of that may cause problems in the upgrade process. A manual upgrade is highly recommended.
Although Fantastico is the most convenient way to upgrade your installation through its one-click install feature, you are not assured that the installed version is working properly. To avoid this, you can create a test blog to work all your changes before applying them to your blog.
3. Do not forget to back up your currently working database before upgrading. I am re-emphasizing it because it seems that many users forget this very important step. I take myself as a very good example.

Releasing my second latest free Wordpress Theme for this year. Fluidity - I think the name sayz it all huh? This is my very first fluid/liquid creation and top of it all…it’s three (3) columns. I applied the famous Web 2.0 graphic design a bit to make it look trendy. I said a bit because I myself doesn’t like too much gradient and too bright colors. In my opinion, web design is exactly the same like fashion, everything should match and harmonize. Okay enough blah.
So, speaking of Fluidity, it’s widgets ready theme. But take note, only the right sidebar is widgetized. You can add your ads, Flickr Badge and whatsoever on the left sidebar. Just follow the structure of the tags if you don’t want your sidebar to be messed up. No plugins needed here. And yes, before I forget…this theme is optimized for search engines, and completely standards compliant.
Fluidity theme folder contains the following files:
- header.php
- index.php
- footer.php
- single.php
- page.php
- sidebarLeft.php
- sidebarRight.php
- archive.php
- 404.php
- searchform.php
- search.php
- comments.php
- functions
- style.css
As usual, this theme has been tested on several browsers and in different resolutions. I haven’t found any bugs at all, but just the same, in case you’ll encounter some problems, please do not hesitate to email me. Though I am warning you upfront, I might not able to answer your queries immediately. I am a fulltime student at present, a mother of three kids and is running a household besides a part time job.
By the way, I’m not a comment whore but any feedback from you is highly appreciated. See, feedback works like balsam to my aching back and elbow. And above all, it gives me the inspiration to create more themes for free.

My own list of most beautiful and best WordPress themes, inspired by the 83 Beautiful Wordpress Themes You (Probably) Haven’t Seen list by Smashing Magazine.
Dark Theme for WordPress was originally used on Wolfgang Bartelme’s website. It is a three-column, dark theme which is be perfect for community, technology and even personal blogs. I am not a fan of dark-themed layouts for blogs but this particular theme has struck my interest. It’s neatly done and it maximizes your website space, which means you’ll have more space for site ads, links and widgets.
The theme has been tested on WordPress 2.1.3 with Firefox and Safari, may play well with IE6/7 too. It validates as XHTML 1.0 Strict and CSS 2.0.
Bartelme Design had made available a customization kit for download, which will enable users to add a nifty logo for their blogs. The kit includes a PSD file and a short description of how to change the CSS accordingly.

I’ve received complaints from several users about my Jammed and Green theme breaking their WordPress installation. They get an “odd”error when they try to login to their Dashboard
Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by
(output started at
/home/simplypr/public_html/contents/wp-content/themes/
jammed-and-green-10/functions.php:6)
in /home/simplypr/public_html/contents/wp-includes/pluggable.php on
line 275
If you downloaded the latest version of the theme at the WordPress Theme Viewer, you should not worry of encountering this problem.
If you are encountering similar problem, you can try the following to fix it:
1. Login to your admin backend and go to your theme (the jammed-and-green-10 directory, in particular) directory.
2. Look for functions.php, then delete it.
3. Download the following plugins: Ultimate Tag Warrior (UTW) and Recent Comments
4. Copy the plugins in your plugins dir. Please follow the installation directions of each plugin.
5. The problem should be fixed with these steps.
If problem persists, please contact me for further support.

The WordPress Theme Viewer has been catering to the needs of the WordPress community for the past months. Currently, over 1500 themes from a growing community of theme designers have been uploaded.
These past days, however, it has been noticed that crab mentality among theme designers has become a chronic and worsening problem at the theme viewer. Some hide in several aliases and rate other designer’s work with low ratings after seeing that your theme download hits are higher than theirs. The theme viewer thumbnail feature has been dysfunctional for days so if your theme has a lower rating, there’s no way that your theme would be noticed by the users. It would appear unappealing to them.
On the other case, some theme owners hide in several aliases to vote for their own themes. What can I say? Sometimes, seeking for fame can make you desperate. Tsk.
Gladly, this problem has been resolved now. The admin has removed the rating system at the main site.

Ever since I started making themes for WordPress, I’ve already contributed a total of 8 themes at the WordPress Theme Viewer. It’s quite a fulfillment for me seeing that most of my themes were appreciated by hundreds of WordPress users.
I aim to continue creating more themes for all WordPress users. It’s also one way of developing my not-so-good skills in CSS and HTML. I have learned these codes by my own efforts, thanks to the helpful web tutorials.
I am releasing my 9th theme, which I named Jammed and Green.

Description: A two-column, clean, green theme for WordPress.

After days of fixing it, because I have to admit that I am not adept with PHP language and coding, more so with CSS, I finally finished the theme! I tried to fix some issues before I made it available for downloads at the WordPress Theme Viewer.
This Theme is under GPL License.
How to install:
1. Unpack this archive in your wp-content/themes/ directory.
2. Go to admin dashboard and select presentation.
3. Select Grayed 1.0 theme
Plugins needed:
1. Ultimate Tag Warrior
2. Recent Comments
Installing the plugins:
1. Unpack each plugin archive in the wp-content/plugins/ directory.
2. Go to your WordPress dashboard then select plugins.
3. Active the Recent Comments and Ultimate Tag Warrior. You don’t need to change or add any codes because it’s already configured for the plugins.

I’ve received many requests to release a theme similar to what I am using now. I have decided to release a public version of this theme. I would like to apologize for the delay. I didn’t have much time these past days. I hope you’ll like it.
By the way, I would like to that Hostseeq.com for sponsoring my theme.
It’s already available for downloads at the WordPress Theme Viewer.
