My Workplace

I am now fulfilling my promise to answer the tags I got before and during my hiatus. So let me start with Marie’s tag which  title is My Workplace.

I am supposed to just add a picture but I however want to write some words along with it to explain why I have two places to work.

The image below is showing you my old desk in the corner of our livingroom.  It was my favorite place to work most specially when all other members of the family were away (work, school and kindergarten). That time, design orders were infrequent, so it really didn’t bother me if kids were running around and or tv was on. I simply did the graphic works at day time and continue with the codings late at night when everyone were sound asleep.

Desk

The situation has changed right after my continuing education. Family guests come and go since June, and webdesign orders flew in. The noise of the “crowd” and the pressure of my work made me decide to have a proper office. Where I can withdraw myself if I feel like and work without any interruption. Hubby bought me an L form office desk and a leather executive chair. We re-modelled the spare room we have downstairs that hub is using as his archive to my office .

My First Collage

Published by Beng under Webdesign, brushes, collage, photo, photoshop

My Photoshop knowledge is limited to creating page layouts and some photo retouching or correction. This evening, I decided to do something different. I tried to create a collage using an old photo of mine and some brushes. The result is not that really that bad, pwede na rin itong pagtiyagaan.

Five New WP Themes

Upon request of several people who emailed me, I am now releasing five new Wordpress Themes. I thought of doing this before I get busy with my new client’s project. The company owner asked me to devote my time and attention just for them for a certain period of time since the said project is quite huge. So as promised here are the latest and not so latest themes for you to grab.

Two of the themes I am releasing were part of my school projects which I have already forgotten and one was ordered by a client who backed out. To some who’s been visiting my Test Blog may have seen them already. Now dear ones, I am so very sorry but I don’t have the ample time to write a detailed representation for each theme. For more details please visit my playground Test Blog and serve yourself and or you may go directly to my Wordpress Themes download page.

Me A Thief?

Published by Beng under Webdesign

Wow what an accusation! A certain KATE of ROCK-KITTY.NET accused me of stealing her graphics and used it on my created theme called VIVACITY. She left the below message as comment in my previous post.

You’re a thief!! You’re not allowed to use my graphics to make your own theme of them! I’ve already reported you to Matt! Thief!!
http://themes.wordpress.net/columns/2-columns/447/vivacity-105

To your accusation Kate, here is my responce:

I’ve been creating Wordpress Themes since 2003, my site exist long before yours. Here is your Whois details my dear:

Domain Name: ROCK-KITTY.NET
Registrar: GODADDY.COM, INC.
Whois Server: whois.godaddy.com
Referral URL: http://registrar.godaddy.com
Name Server: NS1106.DIZINC.COM
Name Server: NS1107.DIZINC.COM
Status: clientRenewProhibited
Status: clientTransferProhibited
Status: clientUpdateProhibited
Status: clientDeleteProhibited
Updated Date: 04-jul-2007
Creation Date: 09-jul-2006
Expiration Date: 09-jul-2008

And here is mine:

Domain Name: LUKARET.COM
Registrar: CPS-DATENSYSTEME GMBH
Whois Server: whois.cps-datensysteme.de
Referral URL: http://www.cps-datensysteme.de
Name Server: NS3.NS1-TECH.DE

Status: clientTransferProhibited
Updated Date: 30-jul-2007
Creation Date: 08-aug-2005
Expiration Date: 08-aug-2008

I had a different domain before this one, just in case you’ll start wondering why I said “I started creating WP Themes since 2003″. I intentionally added our domain details here for you to compare the time difference.

Now my dear Kate, I am sure you can imagine how angry I am at the moment. You’re lucky you are out of my reach orelse I have scratched out your eyes already. See, if you possess enough brain in your head…you should have contacted me first, so we could clear things before unrighteously accusing me and reporting me to Matt. Stealing is the last thing I would ever do girl. What you did was a big big mistake, now I’m going to stuff your mouth with the truth.

I honestly never heard of you, not until the moment you left that nerve-rocking comment. With the help of great GOOGLE, I found your whereabouts. I simply put your email address, pressed enter…et voila, I got everything what I need. So, I went to your site to find out what you mean, there I saw a theme you created named “nicecolors“. The layout graphic look very similar indeed to my Vivacity theme. But girl, how can you say I have stolen your graphics, you created it around ‎April ‎19, 2007, ‏‎whereas Vivacity on the other hand was made January 16, 2006. Well, I’m not only giving you dates of creations but below is the link of Vivacity’s PSD file.

Vivacity PSD *Warning: You are granted the permission to download my very own PSD file, but take note: never ever claim it as yours orelse you will be in deep trouble!

Download it, and look at it layer per layer. Do as you are told, and when you are done, come back here and tell me again that I am a THIEF!

You have done the damage, now mend it thru asking apology in public and tell Matt you were wrong. Show me you have balls!

Beng And Teaching

Published by Beng under Webdesign

teacher

Can you ever imagine me as a teacher? Hehehe, I can’t imagine it myself either but hey, I am hired as substitute webdesign instructor for this entire week. I’ll be teaching in the same school where I took my continuing education on webdesign. Am I competent for the job? Yes I think so, orelse they wouldn’t call me at all if my qualifications is not sufficient enough. Anyways, before they got my yes, I asked the secretary first how much they are going to pay me. I beg your pardon if I sound so direct but, I am dead straight when it comes to work and finacial matters. I mean, I’m not going anywhere if at the end I have more loss than gain. To make the story short, everything is perfectly fine and so I grabbed the chance with both hands.

I know I had been posting the whole time about how tired I am and etc. Literally I am. But on the other hand, we need the money for our future plans. And hey, working as “instructor” is surely very interesting. I haven’t done this before so I am sure it’s fun (I hope).

My Continuing Education

Published by Beng under Webdesign

…is almost over now and so my life will be back to the normal routine again. Eight school days more and I’m done with my studies and I am looking forward to it. The past 5 months was tough and I could hardly believed I managed to pass the exams with an equivalent grade of superior achievement (look who’s bragging). But believe me, I was only able to achieved it with diligence and discipline. See, kong kailan tumanda saka pa ako naging seryoso sa pag-aaral.

I learned Illustrator, Photoshop, Flash, CSS, Dreamweaver and last but not least PHP and MySQL. I had Javascript on my list but I dropped it due to lack of time. I decided to concentrate on PHP and MySQL since I find them very important. The fact that we were only given four weeks time to learn PHP already made me feel sick. Gush, I fully understimated this programming course. I realized it was something difficult to learn after flipping some pages of the manual. I started having doubts if I would ever undertand the whole thing. But whatelse can I do? I was in the middle of my studies and even if I was on the verge of going insane, I have to continue orlese I have to pay back all the money the government has paid for my continuing studies to the institute. Little by little, step by step I begun to understand PHP. I was even learning at home until late at night thus hubby started complaining about me neglecting him, thus I started having nightmares when I sleep. Sounds horrible huh? But hey, the reward of all my effort is a grade of 1.0. We had no written exam for this subject but a practical exam. This means we have to develop a script, I for instance decided for a blog.

Yes, you are reading it right, a blog. It is currently running on my server as a food blog (installed for my previous exam) named The Joy Of Cooking. It was a hard work and I sweat blood over each line of codes.
