Taking On The Feedburner Big Boys

Taking On The Feedburner Big Boys

Or not. )

FeedCompare

The above image is a graphical comparison of the feedburner subscription numbers of four awesome websites;

  1. Mashable
  2. 43Folders
  3. SmashingMagazine
  4. and erm., Third World Geek (hehehe)

There’s no competition really, I just want to share this cool little Feedburner comparison tool called Feed Compare. This baby does not just to show how you stack against your competitors, it can also be used to call the bluff of those shady sites who claim to have oodles of subscribers.

Kizuna Satellite Internet Is The Answer

I've been eagerly awaiting the commercial launch of Japan's Kizuna satellite that will provide satellite internet for the Asia Pacific Region. At this time, DSL is the most popular internet connection we have in the Philippines. It's not perfect (a gross understatement) but it gets the job done. Although a lot of folks are already quite content with what's currently available. I do think that things can be a lot better. I've been to a few countries outside of the Philippines and some of these countries although smaller in size have internet connections that can only make me drool.

Some folks have been proclaiming the advent of fiber optics as the savior of the internet in these parts but I sincerely doubt that it would work in this country. Haven't we had enough of all those diggings and the overhanging wires that actually makes the Metro look like a wired jungle? I do think that the solution will come from heaven-- via satellite internet.

Advantages of Satellite Internet

Satellite internet does not require huge cabling or telephone connection to access the internet. The speed of the internet is also constant as satellite internet uses two way high speed internet.

Disadvantages of Satellite Internet

A lot of experts however shake their heads at this concept. There are three major reasons why these folks scoff at the idea. First is satellite internet’s performance during inclement weather. Whenever there’s heavy rains or winds, existing satellite internet services tend to be significantly affected. Then there’s latency or delay. And the nail that they believe will seal the satellite internet coffin is cost. Satellite internet is costly.

So far, the Kizuna Satellite has passed the first two objections. Those who proclaim that satellite internet will never be faster than DSL are now eating their words. The recent test showing upload/download speeds of 1.2Gbps is droolworthy. Latency was a non-issue.

The only thing that can keep the Kizuna at bay will be the cost of its service. That and the politics governing its domestic usage in Japan’s neighboring countries.

Britney Says Gimme, Gimme Officially

(It’s Britney bitch)

[Laugh]

Every time they turn the lights down
Just want to go that extra mile for you
You public display of affection
Feels like no one else in the room (but you)

We can get down like there’s no one around
We'll keep on rockin' (We'll keep on rockin')
We'll keep on rockin' (Keep on rockin')
Cameras are flashin' while we're dirty dancin'
They keep watching (They keep watching)
Keep watching

Feels like the crowd is saying

Gimme, Gimme more
Gimme, More
Gimme, Gimme, More
Gimme, Gimme more
Gimme, More
Gimme, Gimme, More
Gimme, Gimme more
Gimme, More
Gimme, Gimme, More
Gimme, Gimme more
Gimme, More
Gimme, Gimme, More

A center of attention (Can you feel that?)
Even when we’re up against the wall
You’ve got me in a crazy position (yeah)
If you're on a mission (uh-uh)
You got my permission (oh)

We can get down like there’s no one around
We'll keep on rockin' (Keep on rockin')
We'll keep on rockin', rockin' (Oh ah ha)
Cameras are flashin' while we're dirty dancin'
They keep watching (They keep watching)
Keep watching

Feel's like the crowd is saying:

Gimme, Gimme more
Gimme, More
Gimme, Gimme, More
Gimme, Gimme more
Gimme, More
Gimme, Gimme, More
Gimme, Gimme more
Gimme, More

Paris Hilton’s Saddest Day on TV

Paris Hilton just got grilled by David Letterman, and it was her saddest day.

Okay, here’s my two cents’ worth: if it’s really over, then it could have never affected her one bit, right? And I’d say given the reputation of David Letterman, she could have at least expected it. Moreover, it would certainly be more self-redeeming if she just matched Letterman’s candidness with her “wit.”

In this world where even your littlest mistake is rubbed into your face, it pays to be real tough and gracious.

Eva Nazemson Throws Up–Literally

This is totally weird! Just a warning, though. This can be extremely gross–literally. And I mean no kidding. This is Eva Nazemson, a Swedish game show host who suddenly threw up in a middle of a phone call and then back on camera as if nothing happened. Reason? She just had her period. She still looks fantastic, though, don’t you think?

Meet the Finalists

Published by lemski under entertainment, television

Now, we’ve got six incredible people up for the Finals round. And who was one of those who made it to the top 2 spots? It’s Connie Talbot. Click below for her semifinal song:

Her rendition of Ben was, honestly, only half as amazing as her Somewhere Over the Rainbow. But hey, she’s sweet, she’s charming, she can hold a note somehow, and she’s sincere. It’s far from being too commercial–the usual pop and ballad songs we hear on radios every day. Let’s just say that it’s still a sweet treat, making her truly deserving of English votes and being in the Finals Round.

By the way, here are some information about Connie:

  • Connie Talbot is a six-year-old kid who lives in Sutton Coldfield together with her parents, Sharon and Gavin, and her siblings, Mollie and Josh.
  • She started singing when she was just barely three years old, her grandma, a cancer-stricken relative, being one of her admiring fans.
  • The first time she sang Over the Rainbow was during the funeral of her grandma.
  • Connie is a brilliant student that she sits alone in her school and has different kind of work assigned.
  • She never had any formal singing lessons because her family can’t afford one. So they bought her a karaoke instead.
  • Her father is managing his own contracting company while her mom is in a utility company.
  • She hopes to be the next Joss Stone (without the pink streaks I hope).
  • She wants to sing for Simon Cowell.

Who do you think has biger chance of winning? Paul Potts or Connie Talbot? I’m just betting on either one of them.

Meet Young “Breakdancer” George

Published by lemski under entertainment, television

It seems like everybody can’t seem to get enough of Paul Potts and Conny Talbot. Indeed, Britain’s Got Talent is taking all corners of the world by storm. But wait, here’s another young talent I’d like to share. He’s name is George, 13 years old, and a certified break dancer.

There’s a wealth of young skillful people out there. I just hope when they do attain a certain level of success, they won’t end up like Lindsay Lohan or Britney Spears.

If you want to get more info on Britain’s Got Talent, click here.

Kicking Sopranos

Published by thoughtsandscribbles under News, television

Indeed, Sopranos, after nine years of being on air, Sopranos is drawing to a close.
What’s in store for the last episode or, perhaps, are we going to say farewell to Tony Soprano?

There were three names in Phil Leotardo’s hit list, and out of the three, Tony’s the only one tecnically alive. Bobby’s now dead, and Sil’s lying on his own deathbed. Dr. Melfi has decided to not continue Tony’s therapy, and the latter has no one to turn to and is in total panic mode.

David Chase, the show’s creator and writer, will spearhead the show’s finale.

By the way, we may not be surprised if these guys will also be holding Emmy’s pretty soon.

Watch it on Sunday, 9 p.m., only at HBO.

In the meantime, get a sneak peek here of the final episode trailer:

Hye Kyo, Eugene, and Jeon

Published by shane under entertainment, television

From a long list of beautiful, lovely Korean Actresses, these three are on the top of my list. I was going through the files of my past blog and seen photos of these ladies. Just thought of sharing it again. ;) *crosses fingers*

She’s gorgeous.
Song Hye Kyo

Song Hye Kyo. She first appeared in Philippine television when Endless Love I was shown on GMA. But the first time I seen her on tv was in Full House when GMA aired it. My other half was obsessed with the series, she talked about it a lot, so I was not spared from watching it. I wasn’t disappointed after seeing the series. Yes. I’m not really the type of person to watch these kind of shows, perhaps it was my feminine side. (hahaha) Characters were funny, hilarious and a bit comical. She won best actress and most popular actress in the 2004 KBS Drama Awards for the series Full House.

a toast to a televisionary

Published by Michael U. Obenieta under Film, television

BEEN GOING over the top with my insomnia lately, and living up to the heights of flight such witching hours can offer: an invitation to be vigilant, to empty one’s attention out for a journey into the depths of discovery.

Never thought I could stay riveted in front of the television with a monk’s devotion, an autistic’s focus and clarity, or a marathoner’s energy. Not until I got the DVD of the transcendent HBO production, “Six Feet Under,” containing the entire five seasons created by Alan Ball (writer of the critically-acclaimed “American Beauty”).

As long as I soaked up transfixed to its visionary concoction about a family who runs a funeral home—where the messed-up lives of the main and minor characters feel like second skin even as they hover like music and dance around despair and the inevitability of death--why bother about workaday schedules gone awry?

All that jazz about the human condition, with its bottomless cocktail of horror and humor, are here attuned to higher frequencies of omniscience. In my book, this series is the closest to ransacking a library for a crash course on the meaning of our mortality.

How downright affirmative
to have been addicted!
