Friday, February 1st, 2008A friend recommended Gossip Girl, a not-so-new TV series (it was started some time in October 2007) from CTV. The story is concentrated around the life of a group of privileged teenagers who attend an elite private school in New York City, based on a popular book series of the same title.
She bought a DVD (a pirated one :p) but won’t let me borrow it yet always makes it sound that it’s the best series in the world (for people who love teen flicks and college-life series), enough to strike curiosity about the show. So I have to resort to online viewing. Good thing I have PLDT as my ISP because I don’t have to wait for the clip to load.
I had a hard time looking for websites that will let me view the whole episodes for Season 1. YouTube only has clips of some episodes because of copyright issues. I stumbled over good sites like Sidereel, TV Live Shows, and FREE TV Online I’m glad I also found some of my favorite TV series like Grey’s Anatomy, House MD, and Smallville. A good number of movies could also be found.

If you are looking for Asian drama series and movies, music videos, anime, trailers, etc., you can go to Crunchyroll.com and get loads of these stuff.

Social Internet Radios and Music Communities, Better Alternatives to Pandora
Saturday, January 19th, 2008Recently, I posted about GlobalPandora which allows non-US residents to listen to Pandora without using any proxies. However, due maybe to the million hits and overwhelming traffic from its international users (it was said that more than 50% of listeners are outside the US), they’ve been having server glitches and technical problems these past days. When I visit the site last night, the box was closed… again. *lets out a sigh*
Hmmm, could it be that my IP address was detected as US because I have successfully signed up using a US Zip code? I could access the original Pandora, though, through proxies. But, again, they are down for maintenance.
Fortunately though, GlobalPandora recommended similar sites such as Jango, Imeem, and others. I also looked for more similar sites that maybe good alternatives to or even better than Pandora.
- Jango was dubbed as the Social Internet Radio. This works like Pandora. You create your stations through searching for the artist, can right away listen to his/her songs and from related artists. You can add as much artists as you want. You can also rate the song which will affect future streaming - if you want to play it more, less or never.
With Jango, you can tune in to other people’s stations - and they can tune in to yours! In your player, you’ll see who’s listening to the same music as you, who’s listening to your stations, and what your friends are playing.
- Social FM. Social·fm enables social music discovery and recommendations through connections with your friends, family and other users with similar musical preferences. Social Fm is powered by DJs and music listeners. Social.fm also offers artist information - biography, discography, videos, etc.

Soundpedia has recently launched its new service which allows its users to upload their own playlists (.asx, .pls, .xml, .txt and .m3u are supported).
Other Recommendations:
Seeqpod is a music search engine, with over 8 million songs indexed. Seeqpod’s player is embeddable and will automatically find music videos while you listen to songs. Users can also create their own playlists. It allows users to search for and discover audio and video all over the Web. They have software robots which work with targeted crawling systems to auto-submit links to content to the search index. This, combined with user URL submissions, results in a large and rich search and discovery index.
BlogMusic (now Deezer.com), RadioBlogClub, Musicovery and Meemix also offer online streaming based on your searched artists, as well as related ones.
You may ask, “Why do I always bother to look for music online when I can buy or download some and listen conveniently offline?” I’ve been a fan of internet radio and music communities because I prefer listening online because it saves me up time and money to download my favorite songs. And it saves up some hard disk space, too!

Where to Download Pinoy 3gp Music Videos?
Friday, January 18th, 2008I’ve been planning of putting up a blog containing OPM 3gp videos for cellphones. In fact, I’ve already started it. But it is still on experimental stage. Currently, I am using WordPress as my platform but I am also opting to use a CMS like Joomla! or Xoops.
Where did the idea come from?
A friend of mine has been obsessed with 3gp music videos that he would ask me every time we meet to download him some 3gp music videos, even movies.
Where to get videos
I usually search for member-uploaded Pinoy music videos in YouTube.com. There are also available ones in Google Video and Yahoo! Videos.
Software Needed:
I am currently using YouTube Downloader which can both download videos directly from YouTube in .flv format. It has also the ability to convert flv files to 3gp format. It also allows you to convert downloaded videos for Ipod, Iphone, PSP, Windows Media, XVid and MP3.
For uploading, I am using MiHD.net, the World’s most generous filehosting service with no artificial limits.

GlobalPandora: Pandora for Non-US Residents

I found this good news from Hezron Mariano’s blog while blog hopping through Pinoy Entrecards.
Remember Pandora? A friend of mind recommended it to me and I got to listen to some songs before it was restricted to US residents only. Pandora radio is the personalized internet radio service that helps you find new music based on your old and current favorites under the Music Genome Project.
Well, here’s the good alternative to all non-US residents. The box is open! You can now listen to your favorite songs through GlobalPandora.
Note: After about 30 minutes of free music listening, you are still required to open your account and sadly it’s still exclusive for US residents.
But here’s what I did to make a free account:
1. I filled up the signup form.
2. Since I am not familiar with the US Zip codes, I referred to Switchboard.com for list of zip codes I could use. You can choose from the zip codes listed.
3. I submitted the form and voila! I now have a Pandora account. I could listen with all I want.
Enjoy listening. I am currently listening to Usher’s music station and I am loving it.
