The Look

Published by ZAM under , Games, entertainment, me

Let’s say I’m interested –in you, in what you’re saying and I wanted to catch your attention. But (being too timid to admit it) I don’t want you to think nor do I want you to know that I want to *tucking a strand of hair behind one ear* get your attention.

So I give you this look. Yes, you read it right - this look I will give you. Does it scare you? Does it remind you of a horror flick (one which I have never gotten the courage to watch!)? Pretty please don’t mention it, I already know. So I’ve been told before.

Scary look indeed. But admit it- it did catch your eye. It worked. So maybe it’s safe to say it’s a pretty interesting look, albeit a little mysterious and chilling. But one that could do the job. That said, non-verbal flirting languages doesn’t have to be too obvious. Or common. But if it works, it works.

But why am I suddenly talking about the F word? Because there's a game in town called Extreme Style by VO5's Ultimate Flirting Championship. Ever heard of it? It’s an easy game that where one outflirts an opponent. A judge then chooses the player who is so adept at flirting and who rightfully deserves to get the Victory Hair.

Give it a try and see how you fare in this fun game.

A Very Special Love

It’s been a long time I haven’t watch a local movie. A Very Special Love teamed up of Sarah Geronimo and John Lloyd Cruz is a good movie for all. I am not that much of a fan but somehow I see that they spark with a good chemistry for a love tandem. I never thought Sarah could be a good actress aside from being a lovely singer idolized by many. John Lloyd on the other hand as we know is a good actor that proved himself with other box office movies. I salute him for inspiring Sarah to portrait a good character on the movie.

john lloyd and sarah

The Story

A fresh graduate Laida Magdalas whose motivation is to apply to a magazine publishing company which is headed by Miguel Montenegro, the man of her dreams. She was instantly hired when she applied as an Editorial Assistant for Miguel’s colleagues quits after their business discussion. The story goes as Laida Magdalas being patient and motivated to work. But, all of them were seems not appreciated. Events made them closer that she brought Miguel realized himself struggling to prove his name as a Montenegro. Miguel’s magazine publishing company went to a bad ending but he gained his self-worth, father’s realization as a son, his brother’s trust, his employee’s respect and Laida’s love!

Recommendation

I love the movie being light. This is not just another date movie. You can invites friends and family to watch this. I myself watched it in solo. It was fun and much enjoyed film for a love story.

I hope that before you go out from home to the movie it will not rain. Likewise, after the movie. Else, you will need to do the ‘Sun Dance’!

Terribly Wanted

Published by ZAM under , entertainment, movie rev, movies

Activity was barely existent in the office and so we had the chance to watch WANTED tonight.

Starring Angelina Jolie, Morgan Freeman and James McAvoy, Wanted is a story about a transformation of an ordinary account manager who found out that his father who left him when he was an infant has been murdered. This father was a member of the Fraternity of Assassins, a group that exterminate people from the face of the Earth based on the name (target) the Loom of Fate comes up with. Taken into the Fraternity's leader's wing, this account manager was trained and was transformed into an assassin.

If you wanted to see bullets that defy the law of physics, watch Wanted.

Barely 5 minutes into it and I had decided it's a horrible movie. I'm sorry but I had to say it's really horrible.

But halfway into it, I begun to see past the almost unreal scenes and I realized that the unreality of it all brought more than a smile on my face.

It's a terrible movie. But.

This is also one of the Robbie Williams song that I sooo love.

Guys, look for your favorite contestants on the list and bet with them.Make sure you have their names,ok? Wish them luck to win the gold buckles.I am pretty sure there is going to be only one winner.

Test Your Memory And Flirt Your Way

Published by ZAM under , Games, entertainment, online world

Being a sucker for lovestories, it wasn’t hard to convince me to play the Extreme Style by VO5's Ultimate Flirting Championship where one can test the classic ines from their favorite Hollywood movie(s). Okay, I should say that in reality I’m a rather timid flirt (haha…is there such a thing?) but maybe I eventually learned to use some charm on my husband *batting the lashes* . Maybe I have given him the "You complete me" line before or maybe I did the ''I'm... just a girl, standing infront of a boy, asking him to love her” ala Julia Roberts in Notting Hill. But I sure as sugar I didn’t drop this line: ''Well, aren't you the sweetest space toy I ever met!”

Anyway, unto the game, it’s really an easy one –you just need to fill in your birthdate, choose a name or use the default name. Then, to add character to your name, one gets to choose the face he/she wants. Then you’ll be put into a waiting room until there are 3 players to play for the game. One may either be a judge or a contestant. If you’re assigned as a contestant, you have 30 seconds to answer the judge’s question in a fin and sexy way. The goal is to outflirt your opponent. The judge then picks the best flirt as the winner of the Victory and get Victory Hair along with the judge.

As of this writing, I’m still in the waiting room since the players are not complete yet. I will have to update later of the outcome of this game. I've been in the room for almost an hour already and I am excited to see what's going to happen. Now how about hopping on in the room at http://www.vo5victoryhair.com and we’ll play the Ultimate Flirting Championship and have fun. It shouldn’t be too hard, right?

Last Week’s PI Performances

Published by ZAM under , Music, Pinoy Idol, entertainment

I'm not much of a fan of hers (I'm more of Sue's) but I guess Penelope's performance last week was her best so far. And I think, among the other performers, hers was the best that night. The song she chose perfectly suits her crystal clear voice. It also showed us her vocal range. If she performs like this week after week, I sure would love to see her win.

Will she be the first Pinoy Idol?

Now, Sue's performance, on the other hand, was surprisingly not too good. I hope she'll do better next time.

Eliminated: Robby Navarro. His was neither a great nor a bad performance. Personally, I don't want him to go - not yet. I have someone in mind who should be eliminated. But the text votes must have spoken for everyone.

As one of the judges said, the winner is on the voters hands.

Monster Mom = Me

Published by ZAM under , Movie, entertainment, me, pilipinas

It's pure coincidence. Or is this a sign? But I saw the stars of My Monster Mom promote the movie on TV and I had to laugh because at I have been feeling like a monster mom myself.

Lots of scenarios at home. Lots of emotions. Lots of incidents. At the moment, I just don't feel like putting it all into words (either on this blog or my other one) because I know I'll only end up to be more than an emotional wreck (as it is, I already am!). I can just imagine the post to be hilariously serious and seriously hilarious. Sappy and HORRIBLE. And I am already feeling horrible in my capacity as a parent. But this I have to say, I really am groping in the parenting department. But I'm trying to be a good monster mom. *wink*

Anyway, about this flick, My Monster Mom seems like a good comedy offering from two production outfits in the country- GMA Films and Regal Films. I hope it will do good in terms of movie sales. I'm not watching it but I hope those who will watch it will be satisfied (and those who have watched it are satisfied).

K1 Family KTV

K1 Family KTVI must admit, one low-cost activity I enjoy with friends is going to a KTV joint for some drinks and unabashed, soul-satisfying crooning to 80s tracks and pop music. One favorite place for this in Davao is K1 Family KTV.

This entertainment establishment, which has its roots in Cebu, has a coffee shop, and a number of private rooms for small and medium-sized groups. Each room is equipped with karaoke machines that load your chosen music via remote control. I just wish they had more updated tracks, though.

Burger @ K1The main branch of K1, on F. Torres St., also has a spa. The massage service is good, but I don’t know why they call themselves a spa, because they don’t even have a sauna. Don’t count on getting a hot shower either, because the bathing facilities are at bare minimum, if you get my drift. Still, I would recommend their massage.

They have another branch on Quimpo Boulevard, Juna Subdivision, Matina, across the street from the Central Convenience Store there. No karaoke there, though — just the massage and coffee shop.

Both coffee shops have free Wifi. Food is decent and so is the coffee (but they could do better). I like the one in Matina — it’s quieter, although it’s a lot smaller.

The main branch is in one of the city’s busiest entertainment centers, so it can get rowdy over there. But if that’s your trip, go! )

Pacquiao -Diaz Fight Resulted To Zero Crime Rate

Between 8AM and 3PM of June 29, the NCR police recorded no crime commissioned around this time. Really, even kidnappers, robbers and other elements adore Manny Pacquiao enough to postpone their activities. Lol. Even the volume of traffic was down at minimum around here.

I really am not over the big win of the Pambansang Kamao over David Diaz. It was an astounding finish when he had Diaz flat on his face in the 9th round. It really was an exciting match -and Pacman, who was in his best form during the fight, almost didn't suffer a scratch!

Again, Congratulation to the first Asian to win titles in 4 divisions! 4 divisions - and he is still showing no sign of stopping. So more power to you!

Back in Business, LOBO, & Being an OIC

Yes, as indicated in the title, I'm back in business. So for your fascination and my peace of mind, here are some thoughts that have been bubbling away in my semi-stressed mind. 1. LOBO's editing is not quite well-planned. If you watch ABS-CBN's "Lobo", you probably have noticed Angel Locsin's character changing into a thing called a "wolf" (which, in the case at hand, is actually a husky from France). Pimp A Gnome

Published by ZAM under , Games, entertainment, online world

Wouldn’t it be a great idea to have someone turn all the trash and garbage in this world into gold? With the garbage we’re collecting everyday, I surely can expect a house full of gold if I get to find someone who can turn trash into gold.

Now in the fantasyland where you can create everything and anything into something and where you can find an exciting realm of magic, adventure, giant monsters, incredible weapons, artifacts, loot and even goopy icky things, we call this marvelous character- that turns your unwanted things into gold just by taking a golden squat- a Bling Gnome.

Unknown-1
The magical Bling Gnomes are one of the significant characters in the online video game Dungeon Runners, an online multiplayer action role-playing game that transports you to fantasyland where one can explore dungeons, fight vicious monsters, use incredible weapons, find treasures and bask in limelight as your influence and powers grows. You can try download the game for free or purchase a subscription at the BlingGnome.com.

Also, for a chance to win a $350 Best Buy Gift Card and to bask in the limelight, there’s a "Pimp Your Gnome" contest where people can create their own gnome and pimp it with a blingy hat or jewelry or any pimping accessory you can think of.

You could also dress yourself up as a bling gnome and sashay in public! Don’t forget to snap, snap pictures of your ka-ching-ching ka-bling-bling trip to town...very much like my alter ego in this clown-ka bling-bling gnome outfit! And if you're lucky your pics may make it to the BlingGnome.com!

Go Sue!

Published by ZAM under , Music, Pinoy Idol, entertainment

I was watching vids of the performances of Pinoy Idol contestants and I gotta say I love this girl.

So young yet so cool. While watching her sing, I was racking my brain for a singer name that she reminded me of. And then I got it -somehow she does remind me of Bjork! I know it's not her voice -- I dunno maybe it's the way she moves and looks.

This girl -I believe she'll go a long way. I don't think she'll win the PI (because of her type of voice) but I have a feeling she'll make a fun artist. I can see record sales and fun gigs in the near future for her -nag ala Madam Auring ba naman...

Went In A Costume?

Published by ZAM under , entertainment, fashion, online world

Despite my temporary distraction with Bones – which I have finished watching a week ago, I’m still desperate for the return of Prison Break. September is still a long way off! So desperate was I that I’m already imagining Wentworth Miller in Halloween costumes! No offense meant there. But wouldn’t that be cool and fun?

Can you imagine him looking like these two furry mascot. That bear with flowers (for me) looks too cute.

Now speaking of costumes, are you wanting:

- sexy or plus size Halloween costumes?
- kid (yes, they even have costumes for babies!) or adult Halloween costume?
- dogs and pets’ costume?
- Renaissance, pirate, TV and movie or comic character costumes?
- accessories like scary masks, etc?
- theater make-up?
- holiday decorations?

Or as early as now, are you looking for costume ideas? You definitely need not look too far because I know of a cool place that will take care of all your costume shopping needs.

It’s a one-stop costume shop that offers everything you need from costumes to accessories to decorations and even make-up!
And what’s so great about it is the fact that they ship anywhere in the world. So wherever you may be – are you in Vietnam, China, the Philippines, the UK? – you need not worry. They are going to have your orders right at your doorstep.

And there’s a trade secret I am itching to divulge now. Are you in for a secret? It’s actually about the secret HAUNTED HOUSE backdoor that will open up to a great discount. And when you get lucky and find it, you will get a discount code that you can avail when buying any costume, props, decorations, accessories etc..etc.. – as in anything in the store! To get to the Backdoor, here’s my instruction: Go to the homepage halfway down on the right and click on the brown comma in the line that reads “Our Store now has over 8,000 masquerade items for you to choose from!”

I’m Just Surprised

Published by ZAM under , TV Series, entertainment, heroes, people

I had to write about this - no, not because I think it's uncool but because this totally caught me off guard. I am just sooo surprised- that is all. Despite being an avid viewer of Heroes, I didn't know George Takei, who plays Kaito Nakamura the billionaire "hero"-daddy of Hiro Nakamura (Masi Oka) in the TV series Heroes is not straight.

Please, please...I'm not out to ridicule him (and why should I?). I respect him as an actor - I think he's very effective in all the roles that he has played - be it on TV or the silverscreen.

I also do not want to say anything about homosexuality (nor I have the intention of going in that direction now) but I just wanted to say that I didn't know this bit about George Takei. I really had no clue. And this newsbit got me disoriented for a moment.

And let me quote a part of what George said:
For now, Brad and I are enjoying the delicious dilemma of deciding where, when, and how we will be married. Marriage equality took a long time, but, like fine wine, its bouquet is simply exquisite.
As a last note, I'd like to reiterate that everyone has the right to be respected and accepted for what they are. Let's celebrate love then.

Wildflower - New York

Published by ZAM under , Music, Sheryl Crow, entertainment

So I received Sheryl Crow's DVD last Tuesday. Being a big fan of hers, it goes without saying that I could hardly contain my excitement to watch her performance during the Wildflower Tour.

So when I came home from the office, watch her - I did. I actually watched with my son Matt - who was all eyes and ears to her performance. (I couldn't believe that Sheryl Crow had his full attention the entire time the DVD was playing! Matt is a very active kid and he always moves around even if his favorite flicks are turned on that's why I was surprised when he kept still the whole time Sheryl was singing on screen).

Anyway, I enjoyed the performance a lot. Can I just add-- maybe it's just my imagination but I can detect a slight awkwardness there -- not with the singing though but with her movements. But anyway, I just love her. I love her performance and I definitely love, love, love her song for God entitled Letter to God and her anti-war song, Where Has All The Love Gone.

I was still lost in thought thinking of these songs when the credits rolled on the screen and I was only brought back to the present time when Matt moved and requested to "watch Tita Sherie again, Mama."

P.S. I Love You

Published by ZAM under , PS I Love You, entertainment, movie rev, movies

Activity in the office was relatively slow yesterday and so I had a chance to -- guess what? -- watch a movie again.

And it's a lovestory! Weeee heee. Being a sucker of romantic tales, you can just imagine how secretly excited I was when my male officemate only said in a flat voice, "it's a lovestory" after I asked whether it's a good one. * But of course, I tried to mask my excitement*

Anyway, PS. I Love You, which stars Hilary Swank (Holly) and Gerard Butler (Gerry), is a story of a young widow named Holly who discovers that her husband Gerry left her messages to help her get through her mourning. And help her start a new life.

It's a total tearjerker and it touched me. It actually planted what-ifs in my mind. Although the concept about "those letters" seem unbelievable and not realistic, I was carried away with the story. And what do you expect from a wuss like me? It won't be shocking to know that I cried - as in CRIED - while watching it. I was silently crying right there in the office. And I would have unabashedly cried more if I wasn't sharing the room with two other companions who were busy doing technical stuff.

When I went to the CR after seeing the end of the movie, I saw that my eyes were swollen and red. What a wuss! So my say about P.S. I Love You is it's an eye stinger. :-)

What’s In A Name?

Published by ZAM under , entertainment, movies

I’m aware that names have special meaning and significance to them. Example, it is said that Abraham means “father of many” and Abraham did become the father of his people. David also means “beloved” and indeed, he’s loved by many.

But I didn’t know that even manga characters have special meaning to their names. Example, from the Japanese manga BLEACH, Ichigo Kurosaki’s name means “First Guardian” or “He who protects. (Now, it would be interesting to find out whether he really could protect the world from annihilation.) So then, if I were to choose a powerful name (like one for a superhero or manga character), I’d pick my name to be Jada Yagami. Jada because I love shades of green (jade) and Yagami from another Manga character. How about you, what would it be?

Want to learn more about manga characters? You may start by watching Bleach the Movie. It will be available in selected US movie theatres on June 11 and 12. Purchase of tickets maybe done online –by providing your zip code. Maybe it’s time to go and check it out.

Guess Where I Am?

Published by ZAM under , In Plain Sight, TV Series, entertainment

I have not done anything wrong.

I did not steal anything. Or kill anyone. I did not do anything WRONG.

That’s why I am not in hiding. But if I were hiding or if someone asks me now where I wanted to hide (even if I do not want to) , I’d say somewhere where the weather is favorable to a tropical girl like me. Somewhere where winter is mild if not rare.
I already have one specific city in mind. And it is one of ten largest cities in the United States with 61.3% of the population identify themselves as Hispanic in origin. The specific spot is actually my favorite number.

Can you guess where it is? To get more clue, check this video I made for USA Network's new original series In Plain Sight, which is already launched last Sunday, June 1.

Why Socialspark?

I’m sure some of you have already seen this around. And maybe you are familiar with SocialSpark already. Or better yet, like me, you're already a member of it.

But if you are not a member and not yet familiar with it, let me do the honor of telling you what it is. SocialSpark is a promising social marketing community where advertisers and bloggers can connect with each other. Now I'm not going to tell bloggers out there to hop in and join us in this community ASAP but I'd like to point out SocialSpark features that may be interesting to bloggers who want to monetize their blogs.

So why Socialspark?

First, because from a blogger’ point of views, I’m saying that creating an account is easy peasy. All you have to do is supply your email address and your password. A confirmation email is then sent to with further instructions to activate your account.

Here's what the signup page looks like:

As a verified blogger (account successfully created), you now have a way to take opportunities and write content and get paid on a per post basis. You may also take on sponsorship for your blog and get paid on a daily basis. Either way, you have an option which you’d prefer.

Also, you can promote yourself or your blog through Socialspark. There’s a feature there called Sparky which you can set so that your blog or content will be promoted in the Blogosphere thru other bloggers. This way you can generate more traffic and maximize social media exposure.

From its name alone, it’s not a big surprise that Socialspark is a social networking site, too. Maybe even a better social networking site at that. Because not only can you connect with blogging friends or better yet, make new friend through it but you can earn money as well. And get this, it’s not really just bloggers you can connect with, you can also have advertisers get engaged with you. Now, no other marketing community or social networking site is offering that, right?

Here's how my page looks like:

Notice the feedback system used: thru props/drops (thumbs-up/down) and comment. You can also see my friends, the props I have and other blogger statistics.

Last but definitely not the least, SocialSpark is built on very reasonable code of ethics/policies that could be encapsulated as follows:
100% Audit-able In-Post Disclosure
100% Transparency
100% Real Opinions
100% Search Engine Friendly

Here's how the page looks, upon logging in to my account:

So what do you think?

For few months that I’ve been doing paidposts, I found myself doing posts of various topics and products - from credit cards to clothing, insurance to slippers, online games to movies, and many other subjects. But this doesn’t say I will not do other products reviews. I might not be able to do some here, but maybe my other blogs would be fitting. I really am looking forward to do reviews for some products I am using and I’b be real honored to review them.

And here are some of these products and some brand names that I secretly would love to do a review for:

Baby products

Johnson& Johnson’s – because I used some of their baby products even in my teenage years. Now, I am still using their Aveeno Daily Moisture Lotion (which is really designed for babies) and my mother is also using some of their products, too.

Pigeon baby – from bottles to cups to baby lotion to toothpaste, Matt has been using their products since birth. When it comes to baby products, I trust this company.

All natural products such as those from Burt’s Beeswax.

I just love, love, love their products.

Slippers

I’m such a huge fliploppin’ Momma and I patronize slip-ons from Havaianas and Ipanema

I could really go on and on with this topic but for now, I will hold myself from spilling more "secrets."

Meeting Nas

Published by ZAM under , Music, Nas, entertainment, hiphop, song lyrics

Okay, I'm not really familiar with the American Rapper Nas -unlike Eminem, 2pac or Busta Rhymes. But this morning, I get the opportunity of meeting him. Oh well, that's a notch exaggerated but what I meant was I get to learn about him.

Born two days short of my birthday (and four years earlier), Nasir bin Olu Dara Jones is the son of jazz musician Olu Dara. He then goes by the stage name Nasty Nas or Nas Escobar and later, Nastradamus.

His debut album Illmatic, which was released in 1994, was regarded as one of the best hip-hop albums of all time. It also featured production with no less than his father Olu Dara.

Busta Rhymes at RapArtist

Published by ZAM under , Busta Rhymes, Music, entertainment, hiphop

As I said before RapArtist has a wide compilation of lyrics from various rap and hiphop artists - from A to Z. Now one of the artists under letter B, is Busta Rhymes.

Named Trevor Tahiem Smith, Jr. by birth, he is later "baptized" with the name Busta Rhymes by Chuck D of Public Enemy (from former NFL wide receiver George "Buster" Rhymes) after watching him perform.

I also learned that in 1998, Smith recorded Extinction Level Event (Final World Front) with the single, "Gimme Some More" that reached number 5 in the UK singles chart in January 1999.
Smith enjoyed further transatlantic success in April when the single "What's It Gonna Be?!", featuring Janet Jackson, reached the US and UK Top 10.

About Tupac

Published by ZAM under , 2pac, Music, entertainment

A week ago, I found this cool site that features Shakur Tupac. And with this discovery, I ended up researching the interesting life that Shakur had before his untimely death. Well, even his death is interesting enough and I'm not even sure if his family already found justice for it.

Anyway for all of you 2pac fans, you may read the 2pac Profile at this link. You can also find about 260 and more 2pac Lyrics here. Other artists are also featured at rapartist.com.
