The Moving On To Adulthood Chronicles. MOTAC. Hahaha sorry I couldn't help but laugh. What a stupid acronym.
I actually tried job hunting today, via the internet. Wow, the internet is amazing. Yeah, you just had to know that too because reading this blog, I don't think you came to realize that.
There are a lot of jobs out there, and a lot of them specifying "Male". What the hell does that have to do with anything? But well, I'm not in the mood to talk about gender inequality, especially since I just celebrated Mother's day with my family last night.
(On that note though, one of my uncles made a speech about God making the women more beautiful than men so they'd be cherished, etc. And I knew he meant well but having done a thesis totally related to that I had a lot of things going on in my head and caused me to stay quiet the whole evening lest I shock the children)
FYI, the job I'm looking for is nothing of specific nature. It just needs to fit with my schedule when I'll be studying again in November, so it's preferably part-time. Oh and it has to be something I'm capable of doing, in case that isn't one of the usual criteria. -_-
Considering I'm a fresh BS Architecture graduate, I went for the Engineering/Archi related ones first. I wasn't sure if they were looking for part-timers with their job descriptions but the phrase "can work overtime" was a common one. Well, it is kind of expected in this field.
CAD operators were quite a hit too. But again the phrase just turns me off. And didn't I mention some posts back that I'd scratch my eyes out the next time I do something on CAD again? Especially if they ask me to "work overtime". I know what that phrase means.
My friend Enriqueh actually struck the gold mine when I got news of the work he got into. His job was something like writing the concept papers and critique for the designs of the __________ firm. Not the best firm but that's one helluva kick-ass job if you ask me! I'm salivating with jealousy. Well, not really. Just a teeny bit, like, 2% of my consciousness.
I found a similar job description though. It says:
WRITER
*Full-time for Web
*Proficient in the English Language
*Knowledgeable in editing tools and concepts
*Efficient in Web applications and Microsoft Office(Email resume and two written samples)
Let's see. Proficient in English, check. Knowledgeable in editing tools, check. Efficient in Web applications, check. Just.. what is Microsoft Office again? I'm sure someone explained that to me before but, hmm, I keep forgetting. Is that the expensive simian application owned by Bill Gates?
I don't know what Full-time for Web means. If it means 6 hours minimum on the internet, then maybe I'm up for that. >.>
Wait, I think I remember my mom telling me to get an architectural job.

AutoTerminal.com South America (ATSAM) recently received delivery of more than 70 units of original left-hand drive (LHD) vehicles.
Included in the shipment were best-selling LHD brands in America like Honda, Toyota, Hummer, GMC, Ford, Chevrolet, Cadillac, Lexus, BMW, Mercedes Benz, Lincoln, Dodge, Infiniti, Nissan and Mitsubishi.
These vehicles are quality pre-owned units sourced from the US that have not undergone any steering conversion procedures. Faulty steering conversions affects the vehicle’s safety grade, decreases its performance and road-worthiness.
This is welcome news for South Americans in the Caribbean, Chile, Peru, Bolivia and Paraguay, who drive LHD vehicles. With an abundant stock of LHD vehicles to choose from, they get premium on purchases without compromising safety.
ATSAM maintains a distribution hub for South America in Iquique, Chile and has more than 450 ready-for-delivery vehicles in its yard located in v. Salitrera Victoria Mz E Sitio 48-B, Barrio Industrial Zofri Iquique, Chile.
Customers could check these vehicles – complete with details and pictures – at www.autoterminal.com South America.
ATSAM is part of the AutoTerminal.com group, a leading global distributor of quality used vehicles sourced from Japan, USA, Singapore and Thailand. It maintains inventory centers not only South America but also in Africa, Asia, Australia, the Caribbean, Europe and New Zealand.

The next morning, I was able to bring my camera after getting it from my bro’s office. It was 2:30 p.m. already when I was on the way to Kiko’s house. I was riding a jeepney. As we passed by Bankerohan Bridge, I saw a girl jogging as if she was going after something or someone. Suddenly, a sweaty man leaped from the side of the jeepney and I realized he’s a teammate of that girl. They’re the participants of the urban race.
As I enter the compound where Kiko’s place is located, I saw 3 flags formed in a straight line. I also saw Kiko, his wife’s son, Bams, and a couple of kids waiting for the participants to arrive. I also saw Smooch wearing a T-shirt of the said event. I wonder what her participation in the event.. hmm.. By the way guys, I want you to meet Smooch…
… a 2 year old Great Dane. Here she is with Strawberry.
The task is that you will Walk with Smooch in a zigzag form passing through those flags. Easy isn’t? You bet!
Now here are the participants doing the task..

I don't know what the guys are thinking here.. hehe.
Here's Puff (Left) and Sniff (Right). I think they're figuring out how can they get this cookie. Comments Off

Is it an addiction? Or is it normal? Is it a warning sign? Or is it just a passing phase? I think, it is a bordering addiction.
Oh, I don’t mean you, obviously. But you know what? I’ve just uncovered around 10 blogs I created since 2004. There could be more, but I cannot be so sure. Some of these I uncovered by Googling my name, pen name, nick name, and all the names I remember calling myself. Some of these blogs have little to no content, and some have a couple months of content.
Despite this discovery, I still created 3 new blogs in the past 4 days.
Yipee! Oh no, I refuse to disclose the URLs of the blogs I created in the past, nor the URLs of the newly created ones. In time, I will, so sit back and enjoy the ride.
I did cancel one though. I closed the blog I made last month which was a health blog. Why? Pretty much because I no longer have time or the patience to focus on health. Things just got a lot busier and now I am strapped for time. No worries, though, because I still have a healthy nutty bone in me which is pushing me to be healthy. But any update on that will most definitely be read here.
Speaking of health, I was supposed to jog this morning, but I skipped out. Why? Too tired.
Ask me again in a couple of days, and I’ll tell you.
So… latez!

Finally visited the Paco Park (when it was open), as part of Sam’s mother’s day treat for me. Didn’t have much time to sit and ruminate under the shade of the old acacia trees because we had Maia the whirling dervish with us, but we did get to walk both the outer and inner circles of the concentric cemetery. And take pictures.

Paco Park Entrance Archway Detail

Ama and Maia at the Inner Circle of tombs.

The Fountain and the Church of St. Pancratius

Maia and Ate Beng do a Ta-daah! at the Inner Circle Steps

This is the marker that was erected where our National Hero Jose Rizal was first buried after his execution at Bagumbayan Field. If you check out the wikipedia entry on the Paco Park you will see that the photo on that page is of the wrong marker.

This is the Gomburza Marker, which on the wikipedia entry on Paco Park is mistakenly introduced as the Marker for what used to be the tomb of Jose Rizal.
This is the inscription at the archway of the entrance of the Park. I have Googled for every possible spelling for the first word: beatiaorium, beatiaortum, beatiaortura — it may even be in Latin. What it means is something that escapes me right now, as much as the name John immediately under that word. If there is anyone out there who happens to read this post and can enlighten me, please leave a comment below.

The Nokia N81 8GB is a smartphone with a mix of impressive features… and rather disappointing disadvantages. There’s the obvious advantage of having built-in 8 gigabytes of memory space for applications, games, music, videos, photos, what have you. Some mobile-phone critics have complained about the lack of an expansion slot for more memory, but 8 gigs should be pretty spacious for most people’s needs.
The N81 is a dual-camera 3G phone, but does not have support for HSDPA, which has been available for sometime now. It does, however, let you access the Internet via wifi, so that probably makes up for it. Accessing via wifi in various hotspots -– whether open networks or WEP-enabled secure networks -– didn’t give me any problems, except that websites loaded rather slowly at first. The built-in Web browser is user friendly, though, and looks nice on the 2.4” 16-million-color QVGA display.
As a prolific blogger, I could appreciate the N81 for its Internet capabilities, but then there are the downsides. First off, the keypad is way too small for me. The middle keys are OK, providing good feedback. But the keys on the bottom edge are difficult to use -– my finger keeps slipping!
Perhaps this handset was designed primarily for music and gaming, rather than for serious data input. At the bottom of the screen, where they phone-specific keys are located, there are extra buttons for music: play/pause, forward, rewind and stop. In fact, whatever you’re doing with the phone, you can play music with just a keystroke.
Another downside that I find very surprising is the camera. It’s only at 2 megapixels, and it’s not even a Carl Zeiss lens. Plus, the photos are grainy! No matter that the light is adequate, it can’t seem to take decent photos. Video is even worse.
But if we talk about music, that’s a whole different story on the N81! This handset has full stereo capability, having a speaker on each side of the rather thick body. The output is astonishingly powerful and will certainly delight any music lover who’s in the market for a portable and feature-packed phone-cum-player. And with 8GB, the N81 can store hours and hours of music.
Speaking of hours, the battery is one huge plus factor. Based on my near-abusive usage of the test unit, the N81 lasted two whole days before it bothered to ask me for a recharge. I had wifi turned on for several hours, was listening to music tracks, and texting people left and right during that time. I also had Bluetooth running so that I could listen on the Nokia BH-604 Bluetooth headset.
The BH-604 is an awesome headset! It’s a full stereo system that lets you enjoy music like you were in a concert hall, and it’s totally compatible with the N81.
If you value being constantly in touch with your online contacts, the N81 offers good value. With its wifi connectivity and large memory, you can download a whole range of Internet applications, on top of the pre-installed email and Web programs. I use the Nimbuzz client, which lets me connect to Google Talk, Yahoo! Messenger, Skype, ICQ, etc. all at the same time.
The N81 is also supposedly a gaming console, since it’s Nokia’s effort in promoting N-gage, its gaming platform. But at the retail price of around P17,200, and if you’re in it for the games, you’d probably be better off with a PSP.
One other thing I appreciate in this phone is its content search program. It has a built-in search facility for virtually anything that’s inside the phone’s memory. Search for a keyword, and the program returns results from all over the place, including SMS messages. And the search speed is pretty decent, too.
On the whole, it’s an affordable phone with powerful features. The disappointments could be overlooked, especially if you’re a mobile and music addict.
